I just installed aqua marine flooring on my 98 290. Super easy and beautiful. Love the feel. After install i sprayed with 303 fabric guard

I am also looking at getting rid of my carpet and add a new flooring for the cockpit and TNT hydraulic swimstep/lift on my '95 450 Sundancer. does anyone have insight on the difference between SeaDek, DIY EVA, or PlasDeck? From what i have read, PlasDeck is most durable, but nuisance to lay down as it needs to be glued down. SeaDeck and EVA essentially same, but DIY version not as refined and Laser milled SeaDeck, but as durable and substantially cheapest than other options. Do all products feel the same when you walk on it? or is the PlasDeck a harder surface?
Which is easiest to clean? And now i read this thread and .... AquaMarine is on the scene. Im a first time boat owner and second guessing every option. How does PlasDeck compare to AquaMarine?
Aqua Marine, MarineMat, Seadek, Gatorstep, and all the other EVA foam flooring products are all very similar when it comes to materials they use. You can get them all in various thickness, the thicker you buy the softer it is. The main difference you will see between them is customer service (during and after purchase), and also quality of machining/cutting.

Plasdeck is a different material all together. It's not as soft as the ones mentioned above, but is supposed to be less porous so it should stay clean longer.

At the end of the day, none of these are permanent flooring solutions, they all require maintenance and cleaning, and they all wear over time and eventually need to be replaced. How long they last will depend on how you store your boat, whether you cover it, how much sun your boat gets when stored, and how well you keep things clean. Installation is also extremely important and makes a big difference in how long the flooring lasts. I have seen folks that have problems just a few months after install, and I have seen folks that are 5 years in and still happy. Proper installation makes a big difference.

Will, I used Plasdeck on my front deck, around the windlass (after a structural repair to the deck). I chose it because it most closely resembles the look and feel of real teak. As far as glueing it down, it's just glue - it's easy. Actually, it's more forgiving during the install than peel-n-stick stuff. It does get warmer than Seadek. The lighter colors would obviously be better than the darker colors. Physics still works :)

Just for reference, I have tons of experience with Seadek - so I'm not downplaying it. It all comes down to personal preferences.

Does Plasdeck still make the version with glow in the dark teak joints? I always thought that might be nice for the swim deck to help boarding/docking at night.

I was power washing the dock this spring and decided to try the power washer on my SeaDeck flooring, amazing how well it looked after, even removed old stains. Suggestion, make sure floor is supper clean before putting any sealer on.

Christo,
Spray 303 on it and let dry for like 12 -24 hrs. I did after baktasht did all the research. Wow what a difference. Water beads up, and any dirt and blood just washed right off

I've got a dry fit from Sea Dek coming this week. Can't wait to do the final install. Swim platform only at this point.

I actually did spray the 303 on it and youre right, quite a difference, took the boat out on the water for the first time yesterday, and it beads up great. That’s a great tip:)

You will love the look Todd, it’s kind of a long process getting the SeaDek, but well worth it once you see it.

What is the best way to clean black marks off of Aquamarine Traction? It's a week old and before i could put a protector on it there are several black marks from sneakers, etc. Once I get it spotless I will definitely use the 303 on it.

start with less aggressive methods. Non-wax carwash/boatwash (make sure it doesn't have wax or sealer in it), along with a carwash mitt. If that doesn't work, use the same solution along with a soft bristle brush, and brush in various directions. If that doesn't work, use some dish soap mixed with water and use a soft bristle brush. Unless it's an oil stain that should get most dirt/mud stains out.

Hi Sea, I’d maybe just start with some hot soapy water and a brush. My SeaDek came with a sample bottle of cleaner, maybe Aquamarine has something like that too

Yes they do. They sent a small bottle of cleaner with my order and sell this on their site. It also says to use tide laundry detergent for best cleaning.

Are you guys just spraying the 303 on the decking and letting it soak in? What is the actual application. I have week old aquamarine deck and see myself soaking a sponge in that stuff and wiping...

I'm on the fence with this whole 303 discussion. I'm installing cheapo EVA flooring on my new platform and as you can see below my 3 year old stuff on the upper platform hasn't really changed or weathered. I've never really struggled to keep it clean with Simple Green. But why not spray the 303 I guess? Other than the $70 per gallon price tag :) Hmm...
