SeaDek

Whoa, that surprises me to see that. Mine has been installed for a couple of years, and hasn't had any sun damage like that. Mine has been thru direct sunlight in the Bahamas and Florida sun too.....where I thought I was going to melt. Sorry to see that, I'll keep ky eye on it.

I have had mine on for three years now and I don't have any fading. This year I thought it was fading but after I washed it - looked like new again.

My SeaDek samples came in the mail this week. I wasn't expect it to be as soft and porous as it is. It seems like it would trap hair/dirt/fibers. Is that an issue?

I don't have any of those issues. It will get dirty from the junk in the air, our water in the bay and yes the duck crap. But it will wash right off except for the bird crap. I use Orange cleaner on mine with a semi stiff brush and cleans right up every time. I also leave a dead duck there to reminde the others that if the crap on my boat this could happen to them. They say ok and still do it.
Hope that helps.

I had an terrible experience with SeaDek and customer service. Without going into the long ordeal, I ordered a kit and asked for mods. I never received the mod diagrams but received the original order unmodified. In other words, I did not get to approve the diagram before it went into product since they used an existing diagram. I decided to live with it and install. I completed the job with the exception of installing the swim-platform oval inserts. While the diagram gave me the outside dimensions, the 4 pieces that were suppose to fit the inserts were all slightly difference - installing these would not make for a quality job. SeaDek said that the diagrams they have are from other individuals and not responsible for measurement accuracy. They said that if I wanted to modify the diagram I would have to purchase a template kit $30, send in the new template and pay for the pieces. They said they would wave the 30% restocking fee but, since it is part of a kit, they have no return value. I have already spent $900 for this kit and am not sure if I am going to spend anymore. A word to the wise - make absolutely sure all the measurements are correct before firming up an order with SeaDek.
DO NOT ASSUME that all the small pieces will be symmetrical - mine were not. Do not assume the diagrams they have on file are correct either. I think it is a good product and fairly each for DIY. However, I also think their fast growth has got in the way of good customer service. I was basically blown away with their response. If I had previous knowledge of poor customer service, I certainly would not risk $900+ on their product.

seriously? their suggestion is to cover up "shiny" surfaces that reflect??? How about make the product so it doesn't have these issues? They don't exactly GIVE that stuff away...no thanks.

My wife and I saw an express cruiser in our marina with a carpeted swim step. I put it on our list. When we have the dogs on board I am worried they will scratch up the fiberglass. Plus, it gets pretty dirty on club cruise outs when the is lots of foot traffic on and off the boat. I like the idea I can remove it under way, and take it home to clean it. There is a local guy here who is pretty inexpensive but I also like (http://www.snapincarpet.com/our_work_popUp.cfm?pic1=310DASP9.jpg&pic2=Siwicki44.jpg). I will go with the Seadek answer looks better, but it looks like a carpet solution is a tad cheaper, with tolerable aesthetics.

I just went through the template, drawing, dry fit templates and final production process. Posted some pics this evening.

The process was smooth. They required SIGNED authorization to begin production, so I am not sure what happened that you received product prior to approval. In any case, I made my own templates- no way I trust someone else.
