Hi Guys,

Any ideas where i can buy reconditioned air con units for my Searay please?

You can look on ebay, there are a few floating around there, but usually these things come out when they die or aren't worth fixing. New units aren't terribly expensive by boat standards. The new units are usually quieter, and with a warranty.

My guess not a big market as the price between new and used is pretty small, considering the work involved to remove/reinstall.

We have replaced ours with Mermaid units and Webasto units. There are things I like about both.

Was picking up some odds and ends at my repair guys shop yesterday, he had an ac unit. Nothing like goes on our boats but the point is salvage yards would be your best bet. There are a bunch of boats getting the ax around the Gulf Coats. I'ld check marinas in Louisiana just to see if anyone is parting out bigger boats. Hey, might get lucky.

I took a cursory look into updating my ac units. Some of the new units that would fit my application are self contained. New units are smaller, quieter and all round more effecent; kind of nifty. Just need power and a descent water supply and you are blowing cold air. My deal on the issue was having the original SMX II control head work the new unit and tie into the control system for the main circulating pump. Dometic Marine technicians said it was doable ( 954-973-2477 ); required some fiddling and of course money. I'm hoping my units last a few more seasons before leaping over that hurdle.

Good luck

Ron
