Searay 500 Crank cover gaskets

Hi All,

Happy New Year,

My Detroit engines have a slight oil seep on the crank cover gaskets and my mechanic in Spain is telling me the engines have to come out to change them....Is this correct? and if so is there anything else which would be prudent to do at the same time?
