So... umm... i assume you did an Internet search for "secret spot"? Did you click on the "images" search for that term?

I have one on my lake, but it is quite aways away & I have not been there with my newer boat yet (next week I will be on Vac. at the lake & plan to go there) It is a area that is not very inhabited - one of the reasons I like it there - but I would never tell where online :smt101

even duck hunting that is crazy with the internet scouters :smt013

Frank....that looks like the entrance to the old lagoon/canal to the governor's mansion which is on the shores of the 'area' where the secret spot is....the other secret spot Gary....

Thats the spot, but as Dom said that is not where one would anchor out..... that is the abandoned lagoon for the guest house on the bay side for the Gov's joint which is on the ocean side across the road that runs down the park.

It actually seems to be a pretty good spot to anchor. There's some deep water in the area.

Seems better than going to Tices and have to deal with guys who think playing out 30 feet of anchor rode is enough.

Best regards,
Frank

Sure. We tried anchoring here, but my wife thought it was a little too lively.

The admiral has authorized me to share the exact location of our secret spot. As you can see in the image below, the pointer has been placed fairly precisely. The water is skinny getting in and out, but once you're on the hook, it's an awesome little spot.

I'm only sharing this with you guys because you're my Sea Ray bretheren (gender nuetral).

The secret spot is one of two places locally that I can find enough water to put on scuba gear and dive my boat for maintenance. The other is the Pine Beach cove up the Toms River.

In both 'spots' I have been able to put 6 to 6.5 feet under the keel (~9' of water), or in Barnegat Bay terms....."I've done found a hole!!!!"

BTW....I signed up for a MM aqualpalooza this Saturday for Tices. Is anyone else headed over there or to the spot this weekend? The admiral and I were talking last night and now she's on the fence about attending....

Saturday is the boss's birthday. We might drift down that way, but we're definitely taking Just Ducky to Pt. Pleasant for dinner. Are you going to Tices or visiting with S?

Best regards,
Frank

Frank:

The plan right now is to head over to Tices Saturday. I don't generally tie up to the MM rafts. Did it once, and when it came to leave, things got 'sloppy'. If you want, feel free to come over and raft up. VHF is usually on and monitoring 9/16. If I happen to be in the water and out of ear shot to the radio, and you see me (Hard to miss the shine), just tootle on over.

I should be there around noon and don't plan to stay too long....maybe 2-3 hours.

Anyone else heading there this weekend?

Okie dokie. I'll pass it on to the boss. We'll try to head down. I don't do the MM thing either. Never know if the people around you know what they are doing, don't have a clue, or are drowning themselves to oblivion. That makes for too much excitement, in my opinion.

Best regards,
Frank

Hey Frank,
Best regards and happy birthday to your wife. Any good places for dinner by Pt. Pleasant? I know only couple (lobster shanty and worf something, right next to it) or it's more like Briel area. I'm looking for options for my admiral's b-day.

Thx,
Alex.

After couple of events admiral lost interest in MM gatherings at Tices. However, my point of view is different. Although, I agree with you guys, I still don't like anything stopping me if I want to be somewhere. Most thinkgs in our hands (other than someone running in to you) and if we see something that doesn't look right we can make adjustments, just like we did last time on Jul-19th. Anyway, I'd like to be in more positive attitute.

The Shrimp Box. It's a little further up the channel past the Coast Guard station to the left side of the Lobster Shanty and Wharfside. That's about it that has dock space.

Shrimp Box allows all night docking if you have dinner there. So usually you'll find the entire dock taken up by decrepit looking snailbotes taking advantage of the free dockspace after splitting a salad in the restaurant.

Best regards,
Frank C

When you come out of the PT.Pleasant canal, turn left, and head west to the Brick MM. Right next to them is the "damn senior moment can't remember the name of the restaurant"....They have a T-Dock that you can tie up to or, if you know anyone at the MM, they may give you a courtesy dock. Also, East of the canal is Clarks Landing. Their docking is iffy.....but, if you time to get there just as the gas dock closes, they will let you tie up for dinner.

I think you may be trying to remember the Marina Grille next to MM. We ate there when I picked up my boat. Very good food, but we were also very hungry at the time.

The Sunday brunch at the Marina Grille is pretty good. YUM!

That is about the only reason to head to MM these days. :)
