We closed on a 2005 390DA yesterday. Her name is "Another Toy" (We've got her documented with a different name, but we have to have the renaming ceremony first. )

Thanks again for all of your inputs on my other thread. They really helped me to ask the right questions. We're happy the deal we made and now we're looking forward to bringing her home!

She is currently in Naples and the plan is to bring her across Florida via Lake Okeechobee and then up to Sanford via Jacksonville and the St Johns River.

PS Anyone in the market for a 2001 280DA with a triple axle trailer?

With the exception of my enlistment in the Navy, I have lived here (in Florida) my whole life. The Navy gave me six years in all four corners of the US (one winter in Chicago, one winter in upstate New York, and 4 winters in Seattle) to figure out that I really wanted to continue to live in Florida.

We pay for our mild winters with long brutal summers though.

Congratulation on the 390 ! You are putting her on Lake Monroe? Why not on the intercoastal so you can use her there, trips to Bahamas, S. FL, St. Augustine. I just don't see using her on Lake Monroe, even a 280 is a large boat for that area.

I thought I'd try keeping her on Lake Monroe to begin with. It is closer to home and fresh water. We really enjoy the St Johns and the ride up to Jacksonville.

From Jacksonville we can go north to Georgia or south to St A, Daytona Beach or beyond.

Daytona is a nice area to boat as well, but I am not too familiar with it. And I am not a huge fan of the congestion that the Bike and Speed weeks bring.

I have enjoyed the folks that I have met at Halifax Marina though. And I may find myself spending some time there in the future.

Congrats! Lets see some pics of that beautiful boat!!! Now you need to invite some of us GA folks down for a raft up!

Ready for the raft up. Show some pics!

Very Nice!

Congratulations and thanks for stimulating the economy.

Congratulations:thumbsup:

Your cruise home will be fun and give you plenty of time to sort her out and get used to the different characteristics of the boat. That stretch of the ICW from PSL up to Sebastian is very nice. If you catch a good day for it, the run from Sebastian Inlet up to Ponce Inlet on the outside is a big time saver. You know how thick the ICW Manatee Zones are in the Winter especially.

Have Fun...great choice.

Well, there she is! Any words of wisdom before we start our voyage? (Actually, we don't leave for another week.)

You will love that boat / engine combo! I know I do. :smt038

Instead of going south from Naples take a detour north to Bradenton for a few days and you and I can run our boats in a kind of "formation cruise" on Tampa Bay!

I too am in the Orlando area but the beauty of the gulf coast was too strong to keep my boat closer.

Best of luck with yours!

Congratulations on your new boat!
If I were you I'd think about going the other way while the boat is down here. Through the Keys and up the East coast of Florida would be my 1st choice. Lots more to do and see. I've done the Lake O trip and it gets pretty boring while the East coast is just one huge party this time of year.
Good luck.

I'll settle for boring old Lake O while the boat and I get acquainted with one another. We'll get to know each other on this trip and stretch our legs a little on the next few. Besides, I've got to make this trip for the first time some time. Might as well be next week!
