So, is the first one only good for 125V 50A shore power, and the second one only good for 250V 50A shore power, or is the 2nd one also good for 125V shore power (250V/125V)?

I'm sure that the 50A 125V connection is out there, but in every marina that I've ever stayed in my 20 years of 'cruising transient', I've only ever seen the 50A 125v/250v dockside power.

Bascially, with the 125/250 you are getting different phases of 125V on each of the 30A connectors so that if you needed to run a 250V appliance, you could....provided your main panel were wired accordingly. And, you have the full 60 AMPS available at the boat ....30A on each connector.....

With the 50A 125V you are splitting one of the phases and have a total of 50A available....30A/ 20A (Limited by main breaker on boat)....25A/25A (limited by main breaker at the dock)..... at the boat.

Well I belive the 125/250 plugs have the ability to pull the two phases Dom mentions from a 250VAC/50A Source or a the one phase from a 125VAC/50A Source. The 125 Unit won't lock into the second phase if I understand the plug correctly.

Look at the model #153AY v 152AY you'll see that the male side plugs are slightly different.
