Pasco Police Respond to shots fired call
Pasco Police report they responded to a shots fired call at 3:42 a.m. today. While enroute the officers were advised the resident was a former police officer and likely had firearms in the residence.
On arrival officers surrounded the home and ordered the resident to come out with his hands raised. He did and was quickly taken into custody for questioning. Officers also searched the home to determine if anyone else was inside and was injured.
The resident was cooperative and answered the questions officers posed. It appeared he had been undergoing chemotherapy treatments and had recently lost his hair. He had gotten up to go to the bathroom and, on seeing his reflection in the mirror did not recognize it. He grabbed the firearm he kept in the bedroom and shot the “intruder” twice.
Realizing what he had done he set the gun down and waited for officers to arrive. Since none of the rounds fired exited the residence and also that nobody was injured except for the mirror, the officers did not arrest the resident. They released him into the custody of his wife.
Officers would not release the name or address of the shooter.
