Decisions, decisions, decisions. This is going to be a long post but here goes.

I love my current boat. Mechanically, physically, everything about it is perfect. It's just a 185 (170hrs), not really to small for us (myself, fiance, and our 3 year old), but I'd like a bigger boat. Back at the spring boat show we sat in every time of boat and the only boat my fiance could see us getting was a 220 Select. We just went to the fall boat show this past weekend and a dealer had a '05 Four Winns 210 they had for sale for 25K. I didn't think this was a bad price and told him I'd call him in a few days if I was interested in it...he offered a test ride to be sure I'd like it. I called today and it's sold. But he is taking in a '03 220 BR (200hrs) on trade this Saturday and is emailing me pics as soon as he takes them. I'm the third owner of my 185, original owners bought it in '02 and traded in a year later. Next owners had it for two years and then traded for a Larson 208 LXI. I've had it just over a year, and could only see myself upgrading if the numbers were perfect. I owe 14,6 on my boat, I've got a 6 year note on it. The guy who is taking the 220 in on trade sold it new in 03 to the original owners who are trading it in. The guy taking it in on trade used to work at the SR dealer here in town and is still good friends with them. He told me at the show he wouldn't be able to take my 185 in on trade (he run's a Malibu dealer) but we could probably work something out. When I spoke with him today he said that either him or the SR dealer would get my 185 if I decided to trade it. He told me he's guessing right now between 25-30k on the 220. I just checked on boat trader and they are listed anywhere between 21,5 and 29k. I don't know just yet what options are on the 220. Once I get that info I will pass it on and try and figure out what a good price on that would be, just putting it into NADA no options I came up with 19-22k. Getting what I owe on my 185 might be tough? Another downside is my 185 fits in the garage w/ my Durango in there also, the 220 definatly won't fit, although my fiance will get to put her car in the garage. Any ideas what to do? I need CSR's help!

I upgraded from a 1989 160BR to my current 2003 220BR in Feb 2006. Funny thing is that when this model came out it I was really interested in it but could make the move at that time. 3 years later I ended up getting the boat anyway. We absolutely love the boat. It can pretty much handle any water we have been on. It has plenty of room for people and storage. It is decent of fuel and it is one of the best looking boats on the water. I like this older style better than the newer style.

I don't know what kind of options there are but the boats come farily loaded as is.

I would hope you could get this boat for just under 25k including a trailer

Check your PM's, I sent you one right before I posted this....

I forgot to ask in my PM what you paid for your 220 last year, I paid 15k for my 185 last year :(

responded to your pm.

One thing I forget to comment on. I think this boat has the biggest back deck of any boat I've seen. I like that because it is easy to move about back there even if someone else is back there to.

My trailer has the fold away tounge so the boat/trailer are still right at 23' long.

did you get a spec sheet from the Sea Ray site. It has all the options listed which really aren't that many.

Thanks for that sheet. I replied to your PM :)

Anyone else? Is my 04 Durango w/ a HEMI enough truck to tow a 220?

If it were me, I wouldn't do a thing right now.

First off, the 220 is not a "bargain" price wise so there shouldn't be any real reason to feel pressured to buy it. If it were the "deal of the century" then maybe that would be different....... but it isn't. Used 220s will always be available so why not look for one on your own terms when you are really ready to buy? And it sounds like you may have a financial issue with your current boat so why not consider selling it yourself when the time is right to maximize your profit? Trading a boat in to a dealer will almost always net you the least amount of profit.

My advice is to take your time, think things thru clearly, and buy your next boat on your terms not the dealer's terms. It sounds like your 185 works perfectly for you right now so there shouldn't be any reason to rush into buying the next boat.

What would a bargain price be for a 220? I doubt they'd let this one go for a bargain price but if they still had it in a month or two they might.

I completely agree with Dave S. There are always 220's for sale and it's the end of the season, so why rush into a purchase? In my area, I am beginning to see lots of Searays for sale by owner and I think in a month or so, there will be more deals out there.

Have you looked into buying one from an individual as you will surely get a better deal on your purchase and you will bank more money selling your boat yourself.

Sounds like you have a lot of money in your 185. I bought my 2000 185 for half of what you purchased your boat for from a guy who was relocating and had lost interest in boating. I had the boat surveyed by a certified mechanic who verified it was mechanically sound. There were a few cosmetic things I fixed and had a good detail job done.

My plans are to move up when I find a good deal by owner on my terms. Just go slow as a boat is not an investment.

That's just my opinion. Good luck.

Thats what I'm leaning towards, if they can't give me a steal of a deal on this boat which I doubt they will I'll just wait until the right one comes along at the right price...

Fire.....Be patient. When the right deal comes along you will know. As far as what 220's are selling for you need to consider how they are equipped for power and drive. Sometimes this can be the difference between the selling prices.
There are many outlets for used/brokerage boats.

Make a move when the time is right
Pm me and I will give you the other details you asked about my '92 180
