Shower Sump Bilge?

I sprayed my bilge area with flex seal. My carpet also got wet. The flex seal created a barrier from the small amount of water to the carpet and all is well.

Can you clarify? It sounds like you had water finding it's way to the forward bilge (step down area)... you sprayed that area with a crack sealant... the water stopped making it's way to that area. The leak that caused that area to get wet didn't magically disappear so where is that water going to end up, now?

The spray prevented water seeping into the carpet thus making it wet. The water is so little it will simply sit in the sump area. If the water gets to high my bilge will pump it out. But that never happened.

So, I'm two weeks into my ownership of a 280 SD...

I've read every post on problems with the shower sump..and have taken good notes on things to keep that sump working correctly (THANK YOU all very much), BUT...I'm having a little different issue.

The sump box sits in a small bilge. I've got at least an inch of water in the bilge, outside of the sump box, and I don't see that there's a bilge pump there to remove it. It explains why I have wet carpet at the base of the stairs...my questions are: 1) Where's this water coming from (deck drain at the top of the stairs?) and 2) Should there be a bilge pump there outside of the of the sump box?

Sound like your sump pump float switch is getting stuck and let your sump over flow. I would advice cleaning the flow switch.
