Simrad radio RS 35 Error screen

    Anyone ever had this screen appear on their SimRad radio? I have scoured the manual as has a buddy that is a radio tech for the State OES vehicles and we can't find any info. The screen is locked up and radio does NADA. Next step is to call SimRad or just buy a Ray Marine radio to integrate to the electronics package as everything else is Ray Marine. I prefer homogeneous equipment packages anyway.

    It might be worth the call to Simrad. Most of us here are either Raymarine or Garmin. But I would upgrade the VHF to math the rest of the Raymarine. I know I am way to OCD to allow that kind of thing to go in with my helm. :)

    Dumb question... are all the electronics turned on? This has RS232 communications...

    the radio is the same as the B&G V50, not much detail on the RS35.
    But the V50 procedure to get into the service menu and reset MMSI (and I believe a factory reset) is this
    MMSI Factory reset:

    1) Turn radio off
    2) Simultaneously press X (or Exit) and Scan buttons and hold
    3) Turn radio on, release keys
    4) Enter code 7100
    Follow instructions for desired change.

    You can least see if it responds during power up...

    The unit is just stuck on the screen posted. I think we tried the protocol to enter the set up mode and cant get there.
