I have a 2001 Sundancer 240 and was wondering if anyone had added a ski tow eye to theirs. The installed eye seem too low.

Any ideas?

I skied off our 240DA with no issues. What makes you think it's too low, how does it effect your skiing?

BTW, once I remember on 175BR we had a heavier person try skiing and when the tension of the line was too hard for him to hold on he let go and the handle flew in to the boat and hit someone. Luckily not too hard. So, I don’t think having the eyeball on the low side is not so bad. If the same situation was on 240DA, the handle would hit the boat and not people in the boat.

The oldest person I tow is my seven-year old in a tube and the line is in the water the entire time. We also pull the kids on a ski-skimmer which is a prelude to water skiing. With an adult skiing, the tow eye is probably appropriately placed. With a young family, I think higher up would be beneficial.

Thanks,
Mike

I see, looks like you don't have enough weight and if the line is in the water most of the time I would agree an adjustment is needed. I would try (just thinking loud here, but never had to do it myself) what if you use two shorter lines off your stern cleats (I'm sure they're high enough) and make a "V" to which you'll connect the ski/tube line. On the other though, you might need just one line (15'-20') going from one cleat through the loop of the ski line and into the other cleat. I would try it. It sounds simple with out any extra mods or expense.

Something alon these lines:

These may work, they are setup to come off the tie down hooks on most boats, but may work off the cleats.

I think your answers are right on the money. The tie down hooks are actually lower than the installed tow eye, so tying off the stern cleats looks like the best option.

Thanks for the replies!!!

My 270 doesn't have a tow hook so I use this and connect it to my tie downs. Having the rope flatter in the water seemed to make the tube a bit calmer for the kids - might have been my imagination. I'll try it on the cleats next time and be the guinea pig!
