This term comes up from time to time in different posts and threads. Having lived in SE Florida for most of my life, I know generally what it means here.

I looked it up and came up with this link http://www.nws.noaa.gov/om/marine/cwd.htm

This is how the National Weather Service defines it. The term is applied differently in other parts of the country.

This is from Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Small_craft_advisory

Hope this answers some questions...I know it did for me.

Thanks for the info John
With all the silly warning labels posted on everything. You would think that small craft advisory, regarding boat sizes, etc would be posted at marinas.
That info is not even in the boaters safety class books:huh:
The guy moving up from a kayak may think his new 18' bowrider is a large vessel. And a small craft warning does not apply to him.

I don't know... A buddy of mine asked me this exact question a couple of months ago. I told him if you have to ask you probably have a small craft. BTW, his was a 26 footer.
