Smartcraft issues with Speedo and now trim gauge.

Paid a dealership (not Sea Ray) to fix my speedometer last fall. Took boat out Sunday and well, its not working and now my trim gauge is stuck between 3/4 and all way up. The digital read out on the digital gauge keeps overrides the depth reading, sporadically bouncing different numbers all over the place...Trim works find but I have to go by feel and sound. Is there a easy way to check things out as Smartcraft=$$$$

I also have searched several threads and see where many have replaced the gauges with digital readouts all together. Any suggestions on this are greatly appreciated.

Your speedometer is probably the little hole in your outdrive that measure that. Bugs, spiders like to make residence there during off season. Google it. For the trim gauge, check the sending unit in the drive. May have corroded connection or just gone bad.

I would have the mech. that supposedly fixed it come back and fix it or at least undo what ever they did.

As for digital readouts, search the forums for "smartcraft nmea2000" that question gets asked quite frequently and is quite an in depth answer. But you are going to want NMEA2000 and new displays. Also not cheap.

Update...Trim is working, I took it apart and cleaned it with acetone, works great now, really corroded. The Speedo has not worked since to boat was about 1 mo old. the previous owners had a new computer put in but it only worked a little bid after that, I've replaced the sending unit and check for blockage in lower unit and had new hose put on from lower unit to the sending unit (brass little thing that is plug and play to the computer). I am now at this point out of luck unless I want to be without boat for 4 weeks and pay out of pocket. I've decided to just go with a GPS unit and replace the smart-craft speedometer all together. ANY info on What and Where to get the best one for my boat? Thanks in advance.
