RESOLVED ON 5/30: Marina had reset the Smartcraft settings during Spring Prep when they cleared alarms for the water pressure sensor they replaced. In doing so, they knocked out the recognition of the transducer. They went down to the boat today and reset Smartcraft settings which then picked it up. Problem solved.

ADDITIONAL INFO ON 5/28: I forgot to mention that the winter marina replaced the water pressure sensor after my Spring Bay Test before I picked it up as they said it was faulty. Any relation/impact to the below problem?

ORIGINAL POST: My transducer is not sending depth or temperature to my console/dash. I would hazard a guess that it is a fuse or connection somewhere but would appreciate any guidance on troubleshooting it and where to look. Be forewarned, though, I have no clue how to use a multimeter — my skill set only goes as high as a test light...LOL

transducer plugged in correctly , but if you tell us what system we might get a manual for it

I may have posted prematurely asI did not get a chance to take a picture or get a part number off the transducer today — as my wife and kids were complaining that I was in their way with the hatch open! LOL. I will try to take some pictures when I go back to the boat Saturday.

Before I closed the engine compartment, I reseated a connection/plug running up from the thru-Hull transducer — to no avail. I was hoping that there would be an inline fuse but I did not readily see one.

I've never seen an inline fuse for a transducer. My past experience has been that it's a signal wire(s) that is direct from transducer to instrument. Transducers have been known to go bad. However, you should check to make sure there's no growth on it and that the cable is plugged in/seated properly.

I will need to trace and check all connections. No growth as just bottom painted and splashed on Thursday.

Any way to test it?

Transducers fail on a regular basis. Just replaced mine.

Jim,

Is there any way to definitively tell if the one I have is good or not before I order a new one and replace it?

I did so with transducer paint. They only did touch up this season to the bottom paint. It was working fine at the end of last season.

I was on the phone with them today and I made it very clear that it was not working when I left their marina on Saturday — despite them saying they checked all gauges, etc. as part of the bay test.

They called me back and said that “maybe” they knocked out something in the Smartcraft settings when they cleared some codes related to a water pressure sensor they replaced last week that was throwing false alarms.
