So let's hear about and see your cars.

Oh, and I did something kind of silly. Ditched the 2016 S6 and a 2016 Audi A3 that I had, and picked this up. 2019 Redeye Widebody with 6500 miles. It's ridiculous.

Good for you - I love mine. It is simply a 200 plus MPH underrated beast that will cross up in the middle of the interstate at 70. Get rid of the Pirelli's and shod a set of Michelin PS4's. The car's feel, handling, and predictability will noticeably improve.

Agreed. I'm a PS4 snob, but holy crap those are pricey for a set. I'll still get them, but try to keep the "accidental" burnouts to a minimum.

When I did Radford in 23, I was in a Redeye with Pirellis and killed them dead in 3 days. When I did it this year, I was in a 485hp widebody 6-spd car on Coopers of all things, and it actually felt better.

I'd say you did well. That thing's a beast and that's a great color.
Much appreciated. I've had at least one green car since 2009, and that needs to continue. Wife really wanted the Sublime, since that was her choice at the Radford school this year, but those are tougher to find with the equipment that I wanted.

Six weeks working on just the intake manifold. But it's done; final machining done, injectors and wiring installed, everything safety wired, valve lash complete, injector pressure test complete......
Top end is together now on to the cold side of the turbochargers.

Finally got the fenders back from the sheetmetal folks - they did a great job raising the wheel openings. Hanging the front clip to figure a way to shoehorn the intercoolers. Progress....

Finally got the TR6 on the road a few weeks ago. New interior and lots of mechanical work, all new suspension, drives really nice now. Still needs some odds and ends completed, like the new retro stereo my wife got me for my birthday.

The car was keyed 10yrs ago so the new paint will be next winter, yep did things in reverse.

Painting my step-sons 1999 Mustang GT convertible. Started out only painting the rear bumper and drivers door but turns out we are pretty much painting the whole car

That is

That is gorgeous! Growing up, my dad had a 1970 MG in a cream yellow. Loved that car and always wanted it. Looks like it had a similar motor with those British Leyland carbs.

Love the TR6!
Never owned one myself, but when I was a kid my sister's boyfriend had one (I guess it was his Dad's) they would let me tag along - sitting in the back where there was no seat zipping around the mountains in western NC. I though him and that car were the coolest thing!

Thank you.

The engines are very similar, the MGB was a four cylinder with the twin SU carbs. The TR6 is a 6 cylinder with very similar Stromberg carbs. The SU's and Strombergs are interchangeable and some prefer the SU's over the zenith Stromberg ones.

I use to race a TR6 against MGB's on an old track on Long Island back in the 80's. Great fun until they buried the course with a golf course.

Since the car thread is back on top -- would like some opinions. I have driven a Lexus for the last 20yrs - not the same one, but currently I have a 2004 LS430 that is pristine. I love it, one of the last luxury sedans with a V8 engine. But, I am always carrying something somewhere - mainly back and forth to the boat - so I am thinking about getting a smaller SUV. Wife has a Volvo X60 and I like it, great for her but not for me.

So here are the SUVs that I think are on my list, but would like to hear what others like. Kind of over the Lexus Toyota styling, have done that for 20yrs, although you can't argue with the reliability - have not really started seriously looking an anything yet:
No particular order - and really at this point based on looks.

Jeep Grand Cherokee
Acura RDX
BMW X3
Porsche Cayenne (I have always loved the look of these - probably more than I would spend)

Probably looking at a pre-owned no more than 3yrs old. We have been buying the certified pre-owned cars lately and have had good luck with them.

If you can find one that hasn't been abused or modified look at a Jeep Trackhawk. They will never lose value and in the not too far future become collectors items.

My dad had a 1979 MG Limited Edition. It was black and silver. Him and my ex step-mother bought it new. I rode in it but never drove it. I think they got rid of it before I got my license. And it was basically hers so she would have never let me drive it anyway...lol

I drove / stole :eek:my dad’s before I moved to MN in ‘94. I couldn’t believe how heavy it was to drive. No power steering and a heavy clutch. I’m glad a took it for a spin, because after I moved he sold it. He had it from 73-94.

@Skybolt, Always loved the TR6. My favorite Triumph. Yours looks beautiful. I can't believe someone would key a classic like that.

@BillK2632, that X3 is very small. The X5 and Cayenne would be closer competitors. Cayenne maintenance isn't for the faint of heart. The RDX is nice, and it's a Honda, but I hear resale isn't strong. Of course, that's good for you on the front end.
