I've been considering installing a spare battery and charger. I wanted to install a battery that was only for my sound system and a single bank charger for that battery. I purchased a ProMariner
6 single bank charger to fit the bill. I was surprised when I received it that it had a cord with a plug on it. I was expecting it to have wires to be wired in the engine room of my 400 Sundance and not a plug in. When I saw the plug it made me think I had the wrong design for my application. Any input on this application?

Just cut or remove the cord and hard wire it to your shore power circuit. A single bank charger is usually for a smaller boat without a shore power connection, so they provide it with an AC cord with a plug. You won't hurt it by wiring it directly.

Can we safely assume all ProMariner chargers are ignition protected? You might want to make sure it is before locating this in your bilge...

Skibum, That was my thought as well, but wanted to run through this knowledge bank first for opinions.

Stee6043, I et ProMariner a question via their website last night as I had the same thought.

Promariner promptly answered my email today saying the Promariner6 is absolutely engine compartment safe. Just cut the plug off and have a professional electrician wire into the boats AC circuits.
