I stopped by a Sea Ray dealer and figured I would inquire about parts for my 79 200. As I expected they were less than helpful. Also they mentioned needing special tools to install the bellows. Is that true or is a garage full of detirminarion good enough? Thanks in advance.

If you are referring to a MerCruiser Stern Drive...yes there are. Check with www.sterndrive.com

I did this yesterday so I have a good feel for it. The first thing you need is the hinge pin tool as well as adhesive for the bellows. It helps to also have a flexible nut driver for the hose clamps behind the "skull".

I am doing the job on my SRV200. It is a mercruser. I saved the link. Thank you. It looks like a big pain in the ass. I have done worse im sure. Love to tear into it as soon as I can. Just got the Motorhome put back together. Did the timing chainand its a Ford van front so that is tight with a 460 in there. Now getting the Peterbilt ready for a run to California. Change oil. Replace the turbo to manifold gadget. And of coarse, grease her up. So as usual, the boat waits.

Jitts,

If your pivot bolts are not corroded it will go fairly well. Just take your time and use your head and you'll get through it.
