My duckbill valves need to be replaced. If you look at the schematic for part number 10, does anyone know if the collar just slides out, it seems like it is in there tight and I don't want to break anything. Just making sure I don't have to take the top cover off that has 20 screws in it. If it does slide out any suggestions on how to get it out?

Thank you!

Just did mine last weekend. I got the collar out by taking a pair of needle-noses to the duckbill that was left in the collar; a little bit of pulling and twisting pulled it right out. No problem hurting that since it's going to get changed anyway.

Thanks that is what I was thinking as well. Just need to get the valves this week and install next weekend. Thanks for the help.

How do you know when they need replacing, I mean should it be when there's a symptom, or as preventive maintenance?

Usually when your head isn't holding vacuum anymore. If water is staying in the the bowl and your vacuum pump still runs, most of the time its your duck bills. Easy to change but not fun. Just did mine last week.

You may already know this but our duckbills are 2" which is a relatively recent change. When I was looking for mine, lots of folks wanted to sell me the 1.5" version.

Changed mine this past weekend. I was a little stumped when it came to the collar in the diagram. I thought the collar in the picture extended above the tank, but I discovered that the collar actuall sits down inside the tank and come out with the duck bill. Total time to change the 4 duckbills was less than 15 minutes.

I have a 2001 - 310 Sundancer. I just changed the Duckbills. Here is what I found.
Not hard but about 2 hours. Pump out and then flush water with some Dawn soap for 2 minutes. The far end with the hose was easy. Just put a towel and about 8 oz of clean water came out. The hose comes right off and the hose adaptor comes right off. The side on the tank, you have to remove the Bellows housing to slide it back in order to remove the pipe that the Duckbills are in. There is a male adaptor the comes out to get the second one on that side. I had to remove the motor in order to get at one screw. This is what took time. Be carful with the bottom screws that the don't fall into the bellow. I put a few paper towels agenst them to hold them in. I put spa lube all over the new duckbills and fittings. I used some tape to old the far screws so they did not fall on the far side of the bellows housing.

How do I know what size duckbills I have? Pump runs 30-35 cycles before stopping, so I assume they need replacing. 2000 340 Da.

I'm not sure 30 cycles isn't normal. Mine takes about a minute to build vacuum after a flush which I would guess is around 30 cycles.

I took mine out and took it to the marine store. It is the diameter across like a hose. Take the far side off that is the easiest. You prob have 1.5". Mine runs for about 60 seconds. I am told 60-90 seconds is about right.
