Received a few packs of the Spectrum Color repair kit in the mail yesterday to fix a few inches of gelcoat damage where the boat is rubbing on the trailer.

Just wanted to say that this stuff is great! It's making me look like a professional, and I've never touched gelcoat before.

I did the same back in March. Mine came out so good, I cannot even find the scratches....along with that, I have also become very comfortable with wet sanding.

Those kits are awesome and the match is always amazing to me.... The best gel-coat "artist" couldn't get the match that perfect.

Looking at trying this product to fix a few small chips. What colour would I need for a 2006 38 Sundancer?

Thanks in advance.

Me too - fixed a couple of spots last fall and even I can hardly find them now.

You need to call Spectrum and give them your hull ID number. In a few circumstances Spectrum might tell you to call Sea Ray for more detail, but that's only happened once to me. This stuff is great for the little chips and scratches that we all deal with.

Thanks for that.

Looks like iBoats doesn't ship the Spectrum product internationally anyway - so looks like a dead end.

I've emailed Spectrum re shipping and will await their reply.

I found spectrum's phone support to be very helpful. They had to refer me to SeaRay to provide the color information, however were able to provide me with a number to call.

From what I understand, the reason iBoats can't ship internationally is because it needs to be ground shipped. There has to be an international option, right?

I just finished sanding and polishing the area where the gouge was (down to the fiberglass). After the repair you can't tell there was ever a gouge. In fact, the repair area looks better that the rest of the hull. Now I'll need to continue polishing the rest!

Also, there is a YouTube channel I found very helpful. If you are unsure of the best way to sand gelcoat I highly recommend checking out 'boatworks today'. This guy has a great series on fiberglass/gelcoat repair that is very entertaining and informative.
