Looking for recommendations for spline grease. Sierra makes a U-joint spline grease replacement for Mercury. I can’t find the Mercury 101 Special Lubricant anywhere on the internet. Or would you use Quicksilver 2-4-C with PTFE for the prop shaft and U-joint shaft spline?

I use Yamalube.

no issues and looks great at the end of the season when the drive and props are removed.

Alco Metalube
Not inexpensive but simply the best for these applications.
My QSM11 heat exchangers assembled with Metalube three years ago came right apart; the grease on the gaskets and bolts looked as if just applied. I also use it on the prop splines, jack plate, tilt and steering bearings, and trailer bearings for my 21 foot runabout for the last ten years here in Florida brackish waters.

Merc replaced pretty much every grease with their extreme grease. I use it on the splines and coupler zerk. Works great

I stick with 2-4-c for the propshaft, the 6 bellhousing nut threads, and anything else that I take apart that is exposed to water since it has Teflon in it

Thanks for the quick replies!

As stated extreme grease is what’s spec’d , but I’ve used Lucas red and tacky for years with no issues
