Spring splash, am I forgetting anything?

. Well I climbed back in there again, which is not easy job by the way, pulled the hose back off and proceed to pull one hell of a lot of grass (birds nest) out of the hose, problem fixed. I will need to get another, better fixing, type of screen to put on the outside this year.

Bill I hear that cool white tape does a heck of job keeping the birds out of the vents...:smt021 Just kidding... I have adding screens to the vents as another pre-launch project too. I took mine off last year to clean them out and the darn sparrows had a condo going on in my vent.

Hope you are able to get that gasket taken care of and the boat in the water. My shipment of wax, compound, polish, and pads is here so I'll be down to enjoy some 65 degree weather and compound, polish, wax the heck out or our boat.

Quick question regarding cleaning of canvas. My products arrived:

- StarBrite Sail and Canvas Cleaner (topside general cleaner)
- Meguiars Canvas Cleaner No. 71 (underside mildew/mold)
- 303 High Tech Fabric Guard (waterproof)

The question is, do I just spray it on and scrub with a brush and then hose off?

Should the canvas be on the boat to make it easier to clean?

I know if I hose off while on the boat, the water will just drain out the back of the drain plug.

Thanks again!

I had all my canvas off the boat when I did it, spray the cleaner on and brush, rinsing with a hose, do the same with the mildew cleaner on the bottom side, let it set for a minute or two before you brush it, then rinse with the hose. Follow the manufactures directions for all. Let it all dry completely, and then use the water proof spray on the top side of the canvas. Two coats if you have enough.

The boat was splashed today, all went great. I am letting her “settle” in the water till tomorrow, then take her out and let the ponies run!

I have enough for two coats as I bought 4 bottles, thanks! Just lay it out on the grass and go!

Enjoy the ride tomorrow!

Jealous!

Best price I have found for 303 is $8.99 for a 16 oz bottle.

At 8.99/16 oz bottle I do not plan on buying the gallon jug, which requires me pouring the stuff into a squirt bottle.

I found this price online at Ace Hardware Outlet dot com. MFR# 030616
Has anyone found a better price?

Well she is finally where she belongs. It is hard to believe that only 4 weeks ago we were dealing with 4 foot of snow. Let the new season begin!

Well everything went well, after splashing the boat I took her out for a good run yesterday. We ran her out the Gunpowder River at a little over 4000 RPMS and she cruised great. Even though it was 70 degrees here yesterday I should have left the Isinglass up as the wind in our faces was a little cold, but still one hell of a lot better than 20 degrees and snow. So early again our season starts, I sure hope that all of the pre-splash work pays me back with another great boating season.

Here’s to all the members of CSR, have a happy and safe 2010 boating season!

Just a shout out to Bill..........thanks for helping wax the hull of my boat yesterday!!!!!

Good to hear everything ran well, saw you coming in yesterday, I think you missed a spot towards the front of the boat along the water line, may have to get hauled out to reach it.......LOL.

Thanks again for your help......John.

Congratulations Bill !!!

I envy you. I just cut the wrap off of mine yesterday. I got a little work done. The admiral is in the hospital until at least Monday so my marina time is gonna be a little on / off for a couple of days.

I would add to the list check/lub Seacocks. I know I have a problem with at least one being frozen but I need to see how bad it is before I start looking for some advice on how to tackle that.

Does anyone do any maintenance on the Rule-A-Matic floats in the engine area?
