SR Navigator issues

UPDATE..The re-boot worked. The Good news. The bad news...The SB side is dead. No touch screen, radar etc. but it's on. I do believe that the HD is going and is corrupted and for sure the int batts are dead. NOW, we will see if NB and SR (Brunswick extt warr) will do to make me happy. Clearly the SR Nav system has issues, I liked it, but now that its failing, I have more issues. Probably will replace with RM C120's and have a custom made binnicle IF SR gives me incentives. Stand by...

Here is your issue with the C120. The SeRay Nav uses a proprietary Radar array from KODAN that is not compatible with any other chart plotter. You will need to replace the radar array along with the chart plotter or go without radar.

I my case, my Raymarine is used for the radar and chartplotting both and the navigator is used for chartplotting only......This might be the normal arrangement for most boats..........

How very interesting that SR is still playing the same song and having their customers go through a very expensive and time consuming futile process to “repair” these units. This equipment was a mistake and when broken is not fixable to the point of being dependable at sea.

"He's dead Jim!"

Agree 100%.......kinda like the lousy black rubber backing on the OEM carpet. Everyone knows it goes bad and sticks to the deck and peels off the carpet but they still use it. But I digress.... They're just not listening to us! Go figure.

I know I will have to change the array, makes me very happy. Any lawyers out there want to take on a class action lawsuit? Im hoping Brunswick comes correct and gives me some relief

OK, rebooting done. Does anyone know or have picturers of what the battery looks like and where it is in the box?

First thing I did last January when we purchased our boat was to ditch the sr navigator. It is junk. Replaced w Garmin touch screen and like another post here I love it!

My SR Nav. is being replaced this week with a RMarine C120W. Met with Raymarine on my boat, looks like minor surgery to enlarge hole and install. Est. labor time for the installation is 8 hours.

Well, they got yanked and sent off to Wytan for repair/replacement of the HD and batts. We will see if the kind folks at Brunswick give me love on the extended warranty!

By far the least expensive alternative. They will replace with solid state drives and the lattest charts. The system is a bit faster and you don't have to replace your array. If Brunswick pays better yet.

My thoughts exactly...WAY TOO MUCH $..BUT MY FAVORITE BOAT BY FAR!!

Well, I got the bid back from Wytan. As expected bad hard drives. All in, $2,500. Felix there is great. Tomorow a call to Brunswick Ext Warranty people and see if they will give me some love..stay tuned...

Spending $2500 on a Sea Ray Navigator would be like putting chrome wheels on this:

The only difference is the Vega would be worth more (and work better)

OK, Mr. money bags then you give me the $10k for the upgrade to the RM's, Otherwise crawl back into your footlocker and stop resposnding to my posts

I take it you are still changing your boat's oil every "other" year (I assume the "money bags" comment was based on how I thought that was a stupid way to save money).... You might want to go every 3 years and buy yourself one of these with the money you save:

80 bucks... and no disk drive....

YA know if you spent less time whacking it and posting on this site and a bit more time on that tired book of yours you might have sold more then 10 copies...like I said, crawl back into your hole Mr. Expert many of us hear DONT want your opinion!
