I replaced my starboard sender which "failed". The new one did not work either. the gauge was tested and is fine so apparently it is a wiring issue as even if grounded it does not read on the gauge. Can anyone tell me where the fuel sender wires end?

I appreciate any assistance you can provide.

The fuel sender and gauge work together to measure ground resistance in a 12 volt DC circuit.

meaning one of the wires to the sender should connect directly into the 12 volt negative buss and the other goes up to the gauge itself for the analog gauges. For digital systems it would go to an ecm that would convert the signal for the digital readout.

12 volt positive is then applied to the the gauge when the ignition is turned on and the needle on the gauge reads closer to full as the senders resistance get closer to zero.

To troubleshoot you will have to check for the continuous presence of ground (12 volt negative) to one of the sender wires and then continuity on the other wire up to the gauge. Lastly make sure the gauge itself is getting 12 volt positive to the appropriate terminal on it when the ignition it turned on. For digital systems it will be a little more complicated to troubleshoot.
