While the boat is on shore power...
A/C SWITCHES ON
D/C CHARGER SWITCH ON...
D/C SWITCHES OFF

Is it OK to start engines and run a while while connected?

I leave my AC outlets on and run a dehumidifier in the cabin. The others look right to me

Rod, why not use your air-conditioner in Dehumidify Mode?

Bill, it won't hurt anything, BUT, doing so will also make a weak battery condition harder to detect. Your charger can compensate for weak batteries, so if you make a habit of starting with the charger on, you may not realize if you have a battery issue that needs to be investigated until you're away from shore power.

"been there, bought the t-shirt" I had been in the habit of starting the gennie with the charger on, so at the beginning of a trip, I went to the gas dock, fueled, and then discovered the gennie batt was weak. Had I let it do it's own cranking, I'd have known about the issue in time to address it.

I’ve started our boat when connected to shore power for 3 years with no issue.

Be sure to disconnect the cord before you cast off.

One member here did forget this and went boating with the dock power pedestal. I’ll let Gar….the person who did this own up to it on their own, LOL!

OK, GOOD POINT THANKS......

i'll disconnect today from shore power..and see if she cranks up on

ill also check the connections and have the battery tested anyway..

I use a $40 WM dehumidifier, small heater with fan, rather than the AC for 2 reasons. One it uses less electric than the AC, and two: I am in salt water and would ran not continuously run salt water through my AC heat exchanger. Plus, I kept my boat in the water this winter, and winterized my AC unit...

I typically start may boat with the charger on. I do have weak batteries, and plan on changing out one set this year.

ah, makes sense. To be honest, I half expected you to ask what the mode is. I've met a lot of people who aren't aware of the features and programming options.

Don't tell me that he did that! I can actually see it happening, especially when you have a group of people distracting you.

I have seen women driving away from the gas station dragging the break away hoses! Cracks me up evry time...
