I put a 14 ft, 9db Shakespeare on my Icom. No matter what i do i still pull in a bunch of noise and sound bad on Seatow auto radio check. Thinking...go back to 6db and just use the extension?

Everything off. About 5 miles offshore from charleston seatow. Both low and hi power. And...my reception from Savannah CG surprised me. Thought it was Charleston until they identified.
