Steering

soo, I just bought a 1987 268 Sundancer off of my dad. The boat hasn’t been in the water since the late 90’s. Well i got her fired up and she runs pretty good.(did the oil change and spark plugs etc...) but when the boat is running or not the steering wheel is frozen. I can’t get it to turn either direction. Any suggestions?

The most likely culprit is a frozen/bad steering cable, but certainly could be something else. Disconnect the cable at the transom. Then try turning the drive by hand and also try turning the steering wheel again. The results will point you in the right direction
