Stolen Bravo 3 Outdrive

Just for reference, back in 2001 my replacement B3 with props and installed was about 10 grand.

TO 80%... meaning you would be on the hook for ~2 grand.
So here is my guess as to the coverage -I am in WA too - Everything is more cost here and insurers balk even more due too. You cant get loans on boats I think older than I think 15Year? My guess in the insurance company is going to use some kind of linear adjustment in depreciation for say a 18 year period (beyond the lenders idea of useful life). Given the boat was new in 2007, thats 14 of 18 or 77.7% -Thus the comment about 80% depreciated. You MAY if your lucky, when the inspector comes, showing them the hours and the quality of the boat but Insurers (particularly the big 5 or so) are turds-They'll weasel out as much they can. Years ago someone broke into my truck and stole like 1,200 worth of stuff ($500 deductable on both auto and homeowners). My farmers agent told me to submit on my homeowners since the farmers Auto Policy didnt cover as the items werent attached to the truck. So, because the truck was in the driveway I took his advice and claimed on my homeowners. I didnt even get an adjustor to come, I simply got a letter from Farmers showing the minutia detail in the policy where their coverage didnt cover. So, the added bonus, I had a claim on homeowners and it affected the premium. My agent was as surprised as I . Now I think twice about claims on either. That was in like 95 and its 30 years later an the Insurance companies have had that much time to become even more savy on how to language their policies.
Let us know how it turns out for sure.

I would think more that they would depreciate it TO 80%... meaning you would be on the hook for ~2 grand.
I hope you're right, but that's now how I understood it. The policy states that theft will be depreciated to a maximum of 80%. And their message said they're depreciating it 80%. I will know for sure soon.

If that is the case why have comprehensive insurance? I would think investing those premiums would net better results when a time comes they are needed....
I drop full coverage on my daily vehicles after eight years simply because the payout isn't worth the premium.

Update: Got the boat back home yesterday with the new outdrive installed. Final cost, including props and labor is right at $14000. Insurance paid $2800. I installed Mcgard locking nuts on 4 of the 6 outdrive mounting nuts. I know that's overkill, but if it happened again, my boating days would probably be over. Meanwhile, I'm trying to find a "stated value" insurance policy that doesn't depreciate equipment on older boats.

I can’t believe that price ….. it sounds double.

but I said the same thing when they quoted me $5k for a new water heater for the house…. My wife asked about tankless and they said you will need two and they are $5k a piece

Prices are crazy! That's about 1/3 of what I spent on the entire boat/trailer 5 years ago.

I don’t know…..

What's the set of props cost?

As I posted earlier, my replacement was $10K installed 20 years ago.

Here are the details. I ended up spending more on the props because I had them labbed a BBlades, as the original ones were. If I did the labor myself, I would have purchased a drive online, like the ones shown above.

I found a pair of brand new (NOS) props on ebay for $1400. I offered $1000 and they accepted. Had them sent directly to BBlades to be re-worked. They're still there. The owner there said they looked brand new. Glad he was able to verify that!

Geez….$145/hr something has gone wrong.
We're just getting started on a kitchen remodel. Don't even get me started on labor rates and availability or supply costs and availability! It's a new world!

Here is a quick example of my world. I production machine parts for oems. This cell machines parts for Caterpillar, exhaust manifolds you see in the pic. Blue machine costs $175k, white machine $275k…. They are in a $2M building with customer service, quality, engineers, accounting, shipping people …. All support not one of them makes a part and the best I can do is $114/hr for those two machines combined ….. I have competition that go as low as $85/hr

It just freaks me out when I see what these auto body and mechanic shops charge….. and I can’t get anywhere near it
