The amount of floating debris out in Barnegat Bay is insane. It definitely makes you wonder what is under the water that you can't see. I was recently talking to someone that I know in Florida. We were talking about storms and damage. When I mentioned that I'm concerned about what debris is out there in the bay, she told me that it took about three years for everything storm related to be completely cleaned up in the waterways after Hurricane Charlie in the Punta Gorda area back in 2004. I have to wonder what the next few summers will bring in terms of boating in Barnegat Bay.

Debris is the major concern, but what about all of the "new" shoals that have been made on the west side of the barrier island in Barnagat Bay, NJ. The usual trip to the common anchorages in the bay will be changed forever AND they will NOT be shown on current the chart plotter cartridges.

Look at it as a new challenge.....nothing easy is ever fun. Maybe the "secret spot" will become just that........"secret" again.

How many cars are in the bay. Over at D & R on 35 south there is one foot of water in there and along Mantloking you can just about walk out to the island by Lyman street where a break threw was.

Gives you a reason to slow down......and enjoy the ride

Is the house still in the ICW off Herring Island?

Jon, How have you been? Haven't heard from you in quite a while. Do you still live near me? Is Corona del Mar safe?

Hi Dave. I am doing fine. We still live in Hopewell Twp but moved about 4 miles from where we were near you. The boat floated off its blocks at Green Cove Marina but is OK. Some flooding inside and some cosmetic damage outside but all in all very lucky. How about you?

I'm fine Jon. Chrissie B II did very well at Dillon's. No damage what so ever. The crew there had an extensive storm plan. Looking forward to Spring boating season.

I can't say for sure, but typically, the Barnegat shoals up only on eastern side... If you stay west you are safer... I don't always follow the marked channel. I wonder if there will be some new "Secret Spot(s)". I don't want to be the first to explore. Once the season starts, we should post a thread of local hazards to navigation, and new "Secret Spot" details. I plan to drive my boat like a sail boat in the spring, stay slow, stay deep.....

Rod, I elect you "Recon Man." Go out with Nansea Too and do cartography for us all!

Ron, I was going to give you the NANSEA TOO to use until you find a new boat... I will just have to up the insurance...
