Sounds like we boat in the same area... wait... we do...

I've been across the Pamlico with water spouts. That body of water just sucks.

I've never had storms come at us anchored in Cape Lookout's bite though... that would suck.

If you'd like to experience the bight during a storm, I'll let you know the next time I head up there. Crap like that follows me everywhere...
