Rather than all the political crap, I thought I would start a thread to share a few strange but true stories from life. I will start with the first one below. Maybe two?

This is a weird one.

So we had our cottage for about 3 or so years. One day for some reason the microwave stops working onw morning. Just stops. No lights sound, nada. Its an old one so not a big deal.

That afternoon (literally that afternoon) we drive into town with the kids. The boys are maybe 5 and 7. My youngest was always a bit of a electronics geek, even then. We are walking through the parking lot at a grocery store and he picks something up from the ground and says, "Dad what this?" I look at it, and its a small glass fuse. So I tell him what it is and he says can I keep it, and I say sure.

We get back to the cottage and I take a crack at the microwave and take the case off. On the circuit board, well there is a small glass fuse. And its blown. I get a bit of a chill and I yell to Alex, "Hey can you show me that fuse you found?" He brings it over and its the same exact fuse. Size and amperage. I put it in and the microwave works again. Still works today, but its on a shelf in the basement.

How many bizzilion to one odds of that happening?

I am not hugely religious, but I really think the big guy in the sky wanted to give me a poke that day to remind me he is there for some reason. It still freaks me out to think about it.

In the 70’s my friends and I are partying back at a lake, no houses around. I tell a story that another friend told me. His house was a quarter of a mile from where we were sitting. He said he saw a flying saucer and he had showed me where in the sky.

As I was telling the story I pointed in the sky. At that moment a shooting star appeared exactly where I pointed. We all sat there stunned, not saying a word for quite a while.

How come this is in the holding tank? Seems like a great Tiki Hut thread to me. Great idea BYW.

When I was in my 20s I briefly fiddled with a Lotus Europa which was a rare and odd little car. It had been painted an non stock red at some point.

My daily driver at the time was a ‘72 Nova. Years after I got rid of the Lotus I was into a reupholstery job. I pulled out the back seat and found a red Lotus Europa Matchbox car.

When I was a "yute" my old man was in charge of a lighthouse renovation/restoration that Ted Kennedy was spearheading in the early 80s. After the project was over, he mailed us a framed autographed photo of the lighthouse. That photo was hanging on the wall for as long as I can remember. Fast forward to 2009, my parents called to tell me they were watching Ted's funeral on tv, and right during the funeral, the picture frame up and falls off the wall and lands on the floor. What are the odds ???

Years after I got rid of the Lotus I was into a reupholstery job ...

I'm a little leary of reupholstery jobs. Last fall, I dropped off my cushions to be reupholstered by a guy we've used for years. He used to have a partner, but he died in the middle of doing a job for us years ago. In fact, I remember two other upholsterers who died in the middle of doing jobs for us. I haven't heard back from this guy so I hope I didn't contribute to his demise too
