This one took me a bit to figure out. While on the boat in the Keys, after my wife showered we noticed the water pumps continuously cycling. I turned off one at a time but could not isolate it. I immediately thought we have a leak. I checked the entire system bow to stern and saw no evidence of a leak. Turned the pumps back on and let them run for awhile then rechecked everything. No sign of a leak. I was sitting in the aft cabin looking at the water heater through the inspection panel when I thought it would be possible for the over pressure valve to be dumping water overboard. After pulling the hose off, I turned on a pump. Sure enough water was pumping out. The valve had failed internally. The hose barb fitting was removed and I put a plug in to stop the flow. Pumps were turned on and all was normal. We limited the water heater to only 5 minutes of on time prior to showers to be safe.

I had the same thing happen on my old boat. Simple trip to a plumbing supply store to get an new one and a few minutes to replace it solved the problem.
