I truly thank everyone. Those brackets had been driving me driving nuts, and I have been embarrassed to ask the board. My wife and I cruised for 8 hours today, and I just couldn’t take not knowing any longer... haha.

Yep!! You was correct!! But why two? I did notice that only one of the brackets was worn, and the other didn’t have any usage marks on it. Kinda odd.

View attachment 93684 Look like the brackets for holding portable boarding steps. We had them on our 1993 SR. We moved the steps to the dock side of the boat depending on wether we had a port or starboard tie.

We have them on jetboat and they are brackets used to hold a step. The portion on the step is L shape attached to the underside of the step.
