So the other day a my cover came in the mail. I ordered a doorman one. Not the $200 merc one. I paid 12.99 shipped and all work was done with engine in the boat. The differences are there are no timing marks on this one. And the 2 holes that come up from the oil pan are not there. I drilled them out and used a stainless steel nylock and nut. I used copious amounts of rtv. Let it tack for 10 min, installed finger tight for 30 min. Then tightened the 2 bottom to suck it to the oil pan. Then tighten the rest if the cover. I let it sit for 2 hours while i cleaned the bilge, and changed all the fuel filters.....again.
Ran for an hour at cruising speed NO LEAKS NOT EVEN A DROP!!!!!

WENT From a quart every 2 hours of run time To nothing
Only down side is i will actually have to change the oil now instead of just adding a quart every time i take the boat out

The down side is that it's thin cheap Chinese tin that will rust out quick. For a few bucks more you could have put on an aluminum or composite one.
