We have a new to us 07 480 Sundancer when we first got it the float and pump were bad so we replaced it then 3 months later the float went bad again, now it lasted 1 month. What is going on nothing but water and soap goes down the drain all the plates get scraped into the garbage can before we wash them. I'm at a loss on why these keep failing

Are your connections water proof? I am guessing the connections are getting wet and shorting out the pump.

I have always had to clean the sump float switch once or twice per season as the float gets all gummed up with soap residue and general nastiness. I soak it in hot water and bilge cleaner then take a hose down below and hit it with pressure from the nozzle. It works like a charm after cleaning.

I have replaced multiple rule sump switches until i got a johnson bilge pump switch. sealed and electromagnetic. now no more issues

Someone on this website mentioned putting bromine tablets that are used in a spa in the sump and it works like a charm.
I drop two tablets in once a month. Never have a problem.

I got in the habit of putting a few drops of Dawn Dishwashing Liguid in the little bit of water the pump regurgitates back in to the bilge when it shuts off. It's a cheap way to keep things clean.
