My brother-in-law sat on and broke my Costas, so it’s time for new.
Anyone recommend a good pair that will protect my eyes from the wind when cruising?

Bill.

Costa - tuna alley and Diego.
Smith - guides choice.

I love my Maui Jim’s with glass lenses. I also have a pair of Serengeti chromatic glass that I like because they are lighter but for a day on the water it’s the Maui’s for sure.

For the best eye protection safety glasses are best glasses you can get. No idea if they are UV rated. I use them and they do scratch but if you buy a box of 10 they are only $100.

I have a few pairs of Oakleys but the one pair is polarized and it's harder to read my gauges with those. So while polarized are supposed to be better for your eyes in the sun they do make looking at certain things a little harder

I have a pair of Maui Jim's polarized that I like a lot, but we get safety sunglasses at work, and I wear those almost exclusively.
They do protect from uv.

I loved my Maui Jim’s for years - with the polarized you need to look at the gps without tilting you head. Unfortunately I need my prescription glasses now and had to give up the Maui’s

The polarization issue is a pain. Touch wood my eyesight has improved since I hit 55. One eye is now back to 0.25 near and the other is 1.5. So I don’t need glasses, and least for now. Its been liberating. So glad I didn’t get laser surgery 15 years ago when I was all set to do it. The doc said I would still need glasses , just reading glasses. So I passed and glad I did. So I can buy good sunglasses and not have to pay for prescription lenses in them. Maui Jim glass can be bought with prescription but in Canada is mucho $$$.

My wife has a pair of Maui Jim prescription sunglasses.

Me Too:mad: I just wear my transition blended bifocals now, not as dark as the Maui Jim's and when I duck into the cabin its a pain being blind until the glasses transition to clear.

By far the best boating and all around sunglasses I’ve ever had were Harken Gale. Bronze lenses, water shedding, light, not expensive, and not too dark. I’ve had 5 pair over 15ish years - mostly because I broke or did something dumb to badly scratch them. Unfortunately Harken discontinued all their sunglasses.

My recent replacement is a pair of Maui Jim Peahi shades with bronze lenses. Not quite as good as my Harkens (a bit darker) but fit me well. They are a wrap style so block light from the sides.

I have both Costas and Maui Jim’s. Costa Corbinas 580g which are a wrap around style and work great while on the water. Unfortunately, they are heavy. The Maui Jim’s I purchased have Super Thin Glass. They are the Onshore Style which is more “beachy” IMO and do let some light in. However, I am impressed with how light they are.

Best thing to do is head to your sporting goods store or Sunglasses Hut and try on a few pair.

I'm a big fan of Smith. I had an issue with a pair 2 +/- years after buying and they sent me a brand new pair. With that kind of service I'll continue buying Smith...

I have a pair of Ray-bans similar to the Maui Jim River jetty rimless. Ray-ban doesnt make the rimless anymore that I see but I love the wrap around and the rimless - Plus the polarizing lenses. Id also do some research and see what those beach volleyball athletes wear as those are wrap arounds and stay put under hard play, right?. See what those are. Smith Attack Mag, Oakley Kato, Nike Show, blah blah....blah....

Ray Bans , have had them for 20 years. Timeless

My wife “had” an awesome pair of Oakley Frog Skins with prism lenses, great glasses….lost em at the sand bar this past weekend….ouch, guess I know what to get her for her birthday now lol

I have to use prescription. Have 1 Nike and 2 Oakleys. My favorite right now is the Oakley Custom M2 style. Wrap around. Polarized so yeah it's a real B to read my phone, smartcraft etc. I think when I need to get a new pair I'm going to try without polarization

Oakley Half Jacket 2.0 XL. These have the rubber arms. These things will not fall off. They are rock solid on your eyes/head/hat. The XL has a larger lens. They can come in polarized or non. If someone (brother in law) sits on them, they will not break, but pop off. Everything is replaceable including the lenses.
