What do you guys use to not only clean your Sunbrella tops but more important prevent mold / mildew?
Sunbrella recommends bleach and Dawn dish washing liquid for cleaning but no preventive.

3M makes a mildew stain remover and mildew block. The stain remover works like a charm. I've not tried the block.

An experienced buddy of mine told me about diluting white vinegar in water and put it in a spray bottle. Spray it on use a stiff bristled brush to scrub it a bit. Spray it off with a hose. It cleans it off making it look new again. And even here in the pacific NW I only have to do this once a year. However I don't lay up my boat with the camper top on during the winter.

303 protectant for sure. My canvas was embarrassing when I bought the boat. I applied two coats of the regular protectant and a week later I put a coat of the waterproofed on. Looks fantastic now and I was ready to buy new stuff it looked so bad. I'm about halfway through using some 3M headlight cleaner on the clear windows on the canvas. Makes it look like new.

Anyone know of a trick to get wax off of canvas? Smart/lazy guy here left some of the canvas up while waxing and there is some residue left in spots that I can't figure out how to clean up. I tried to move it out of the way when waxing, but you know how well that works - falls back in place and Oops. Just not to easy to remove the canvas on the bridge.

Have you tried using a brush to remove the wax? Once it dries, it should be easy to take off.

I swear by marine Spray 9. When I washed my boat for the 1st time this year, I used spray 9 on the entire hull. After spraying it on the white sections, streams of light brown goop started dripping off. I thought my boat was clean before I started. At any rate, I would use some S9 and a brush on the section of canvas where the wax is, followed up with the 303 protectant. Be careful when shopping for 303, as they make more than one kind. Make sure you get the waterproofing one.

Sunbrella recommends 303 High Tech Fabric Guard for protection against stains. I get the 128 ounce size from Amazon and apply it every season after cleaning the fabric.

Is that "303 High Tech Fabric Guard with Water Repellant" ?

Yes. They also make an "Aerospace Protectant".

The description of the 303 Fabric Guard with Water Repellant on their web site says this:

"303® High Tech Fabric Guard™ is a premium patented formula that restores fabrics lost water and stain repellency. Recommended as the best fabric protectant by leading outdoor fabric manufacturer Sunbrella®. Proper maintenance with 303 Products will add to the life of your fabrics, save you money, and ... It's Easy !"

The description of the 303 Aerospace Protectant says:

"303 Aerospace Protectant really is like "SPF 40 Sunscreen ... For Your Stuff." Regular use gives 100% Prevention of UV caused slow-fade with regular use. No other "protectant" beautifies as intensely, protects as powerfully or lasts as long."

I have been using both since I have never seen any indication that the FG has UV protection.

All the 303 products work great. Cleaner and fabric guard for the canvas and aerospace protectant for the dinghy and cockpit vinyl.

Do you treat the sunbrella material around your eisenglass panels? If so, do you mask off the eisenglass before spraying, or is there no concern of overspray getting on the plastic windows?
