Surging Kohler 5E generator

I have a 5E with that had the same surging symptoms.
Tried the carb rebuild to no avail.
I did cross reference the kohler carb # to a Kawasaki # and saved $100 on a new factory carb which solved all my problems.
I also disabled the choke since the choke coil is no longer available. Starts on the 1st crank every time even when the temps are in the high 40’s to low 50’s.

How do you bypass the choke?

You can do it 1 of 2 ways.
1. Remove the linkage that connects the choke coil to the butterfly on the carb intake.
2. (Preferred). Adjust the choke coil to the full lean position. In this position the choke never closes and is actually held open by the choke coil.

I’m having same surging issue. Just rebuilt my carb and will reinstall asap. Anyone know how to set idle speed on the 5e? Do I set idle speed loaded or unloaded? I ordered A tach from Amazon that wraps a wire around spark plug wire so I know Rpm’s. When and how do I adjust Governor to dial in hz? Appreciate input as I found scant info on the web. D
