Surprising response from Sea Ray customer service

Well after vacuuming the bilge completely, I checked the next day with no rain and the bilge is dry. As some have said, I will continue to track down the water leaks as I go. I feel better that at least sea water is not entering while it sits there :).

I may try the contact form listed above as being an engineer I really want to understand the shelf construction and see if they would provide any more info.

If I don’t get any response like some of you received I will just accept I have an older boat and need to figure it out on my own with help of folks like you.

Thanks,

Mark

I was thinking the shelf was glassed in for more strength I’d be interested in there response if they ever get back to you.

The hull shoebox joint behind the rubrail are chronic leak areas on our boats and some of the hardest to determine. If all else fails pull the rubrail, clean out the old caulking and fill with 3M 5200. Typically, however the rubrail leaks are seawater and not rainwater.
Besides hatches, fittings, and portlites, the seams around the boat where the large fiberglass pieces of the boat were assembled and caulked are also dastardly leak points that can leak in one spot and show up in another location. I'd say any boat over twelve or fifteen years old needs to be re-caulked. I had all of the seams of mine redone and it took care of several issues.

Hi I called SEA RAY CUSTOMER SERVICE , to get dripless shaft seal OE part number and manufacturer , and I had no problems got all the info I needed ! I did call this number. 321–449–8628 I believe most of these guys are work from home the last few people I talked to that I’ve known for years are down in Florida and they work from home but again I am on the sport yard customer service but I had no problem with these guys giving me details and part numbers
I did get one time a lady that had no clue and she said she would pass the information on and they would call me back but that was only one time of all the years I’ve been dealing with them

This thread was helpful for me, so here is an update as of today's date.

I was looking to reach technical support for a couple of build documents related to a electrical wiring diagram on my 2004 420 Sedan Bridge.
1. Called the support number at 865-971-6250: Was told there was nothing that they could help with as the boat was older than 10 yrs and they didn't have access to any documents. Call was short and sweet!
2. Completed the on-line form as suggested above (https://www.searay.com/us/en/contact-support.html), following was their response ... which doesn't help with build drawings:
"Thank you for contacting the Sea Ray Customer Service Team. Technical support for product that is more than 10 years old can be found by visiting searay.com / Owners Resources, contacting your local authorized Sea Ray Dealer, or consulting the Sea Ray Owners Club (SROC) community of Sea Ray owners (ownersclub.searay.com).

Happy Boating!

Best regards,
Sea Ray Customer Service Technical Support"

3. Called the support number Bennett provided (321-449-8628) and had much better success. The service rep reiterated that the boat being older than 10 yrs there was no guarantee what he could find but he would look (which is better than the other two engagements!). Later the same day he sent me an email with the drawings I was looking for.

This time around was much different than my previous calls (in previous yrs) to technical support for build specific information - more difficult and lower probability they could/would help. Doesn't bode well for requests further down the road!
