He still has a note on a 21 year old boat!

It's a big block with an Alpha One. Can you say "blow up the outdrive?" Sure you can. Don't touch it unless you want to spend about $15K to re-rig a better drive unit or like rebuilding Alphas.

Best regards,
Frank

My alpha is matched to a 454 Magnum? Original drive, never blown up???

I'm just very careful with it and never firewall the throttle from a dead stop. I usually ease into it!!! I think most of those happened on the old 268 which was even heavier than my 250 DA.

..That pachanga only weighs about 3000 lbs, alpha will be just fine, And yes i put a note on it a few months back:grin:

I can't believe that the bank would finance a 21 year old 22 footer. After seeing the bottom ends of Alpha drives both blown up and not, I still have my doubts. But I've seen Bravo drives blown-up too, like this sheared shaft.

But then again, I'm in inboard bigot, although I'm considering IPS, which are very distant from sterndrives.

Best regards,
Frank

I just walked in the bank and said i needed a little cash to order a new trailer for a 268 and handed them a title to the p22. She just asked how much? :smt001

Didn't know you were on the board--Good luck on the sale.

Is that original striping or was it re-striped or painted? I love old Sea Rays, and would buy it in a heartbeat (for the right price) if I had a good place to keep it.

Last Alpha One that I blew cost me about $800 for a rebuilt upper unit (Jaspar). I wouldn't let that scare me away.
