Has anyone installed Hydro matts (www.hydrotuft.com) on their swim plateforms. I am looking for something to install on the plateform that has a little cushion. Digging your knees into the plateform when pulling yourself onto the plateform is no fun.

Thanks

www.hydroturf.com

I had them on my Sea-Doo and they were great. I'm interested also to see if anyone has used them on their swim platform.

The link is supposed to be www.hydroturf.com

I use it on my jetski trays when I turf them. It does provide great grip and it comes in many colors and patterns, however the only downside to it is that it will wear. The correct way to adhere it requires that the substrate be sanded and then topped with DAP Weldwood Contact Cement.

I wouldn't recommend it.

See these pictures of my foothold install earlier.

How badly do you want to kill your boat's resale value? If I saw a boat with that stuff on the platform it would either be: reduce the price by a cost of a new platform or replace that platform with a new one before I even consider the boat. I'd imagine most other buyers would think the same thing.

Best regards,
Frank

If you were going to adhere just a small piece, maybe a 2' x 2', you could attach it without sanding/contact cement and use silicone (just use acetone for prep). That way you could always remove it later and not hurt your resale plus you would achieve the grip you're after.

It would be better to install snap in carpet, IMHO. I know some people that have a Chaparral with that stuff on the platform (factory installed), and it gets really hot in the sun. Plus it looks like crap when it gets the inevitable chunk take out of it by a carelessly handled ski.

Hmmm, I've never felt hydroturf that got hot?

I wonder if you're speaking of a different material?

Doug --- I like your idea of installing a small piece just for knee protection while pulling your self up onto the plateform. Hydroturf sells this with a 3M adhesive backing and is suppose to release using acetone. Has anyone installed this product using the 3M adhesive backing?

I'm pretty sure the 3M adhesive is DAP's equivalent to contact cement. DAP will also release with acetone, but the substrate looks like $hit after it's exposed. I would look for an adhesive less permanent.
