Switch Lighting

I have repaired all of my small issues finnaly and have one last issue. The back lighting on my switches does not work, It hasn't since I bought the boat. 1st question is what turns it on. What does the dimming switch work and if the tape backlighting is the problem what has anyone used to replace it. Thanks Bob

When I was replacing a dash switch I noticed that half of the strip light had come undone and was not illuminating the right half of the dash. I simply taped it down with some foil faced tape and its been working fine.

I bought a $5 LED map light from auto zone and built it in above switches. Lights switch great and can be angled for maps etc
