System Fault: Engine power limited

Hi Folks,

2010 Sundancer 240. We were cruising 3500-4000 RPM for around 25min. Then the engine sputtered and I received a System Fault that read “Engine power limited”

When I click “action“, it reads “Reduce engine rpm”. Then the error goes away and I can bring the engine back up to 3500-4000 rpms.

Doesn’t happen all the time. Just bought the boat and previous owner hadn’t used it for 1.5 seasons (sat in his driveway).

When this first happened, I changed the gas filter and added a water removal gas additive but still experiencing the issue.

Any thoughts?

Watch your engine temp as a clogged intake would do it.

Still having the issue.. Changed the fuel filter and impeller too. Engine temp is always around 158-160 when the issue occurs.

I need to get a mechanic plug in a diagnostic tool to understand why I'm getting the critical faults. However, finding someone who's available has been the challenge.

I'm thinking of purchasing this diagnostic software and doing it myself.
