Just bought a left over 340 and it is being shipped from Ohio to Maryland. It is supposed to leave on Tuesday night and I am hoping to pick it up on Saturday. I can't wait to spend the weekend on her.

Hey George,

I am picking the boat up at the MarineMax location in White Marsh MD but our slip is on the Bohemia River at the top of the Bay. This is going to be a very long week. I told them to tell me when the hauler leave so I know where she is the whole way. I feel like driving to Pittsburgh and follow them back I am so excited!!

We traded a 2001 280 Sundancer for this boat. The 280 was our first boat ever and I settled on it in June and traded it in July. We just quickly fell in love with being on the water but quickly realized that we needed more elbow room.

SIX MORE DAYS

Brett

You are going to love that boat. I love mine

Good Morning,
One day closer to delivery. I am also on the Bohemia River, I have an classic (difference between classic and old - priceless) 340. I am sure that you will be very pleased with your upgrade, and I hope that we can meet and I can appreciate your new boat. I will keep my fingers and toes crossed for fine weather, and if there is anything that I can do to asssist in the big day, please feel free to call (717 443 3278) or pm me at any time.

Best of Luck with her! They will probably deliver her to Gunpowder for commissioning. Ryan is the service manager there, very nice guy he will take care of you! He takes care of all of us down there.

Best of luck with the run up the bay! One warning, watch out for the crab pots (recreational one they don't look like commercial) in the Gunpowder they are all over the place now and I still have not figured out if I need to stay closer to the green buoys or farther away to miss them. They have SMALL orange floats on them and you don't see them until you are right on top of them...

If you are down there this weekend I'll keep a look out for you, there are several on J pier from there that are on the board!!!

You will love the inboards I know I do coming from a classic 280 as Dave puts it..

Congrats, Im also on the Bohemia, see ya soon.

Ditto to what Tom said. I am sure you will take delivery of her at Gunpowder Cove. There you will meet Ryan the service manager and Captain Ken. He will most likely be your delivery Captain. Good luck with the new boat.

PS: Make sure when you make the run home you watch your chart coming out of the Gunpowder River. You will need to make a turn to the southwest as you leave the Gunpowder around Green 7, and go south till you get to Red 2. After Red 2 you can make a big sweeping turn to the north east. It looks too easy to come out of the Gunpowder and go straight behind Poole’s inland but you can take a prop off crossing Spry Shoals.

Here is a link to an online chart: http://www.charts.noaa.gov/OnLineViewer/12273.shtml

I should have added that they seem to sit around G13, G11, and G9 coming out of the river to the port side of the markers running across the channel... You can also shoot up between Poole's island and the green 1 can on the west side. I shot down that on Sunday and there was 7ft of water and only a handful of floats scattered around.

There are crab/fish line trap white markers around the G7 and R6 buoys so it pays to run to G7 then make the turn to R6 to avoid them...

Thanks everyone for the kind words and I appreciate all of the tips! I will keep updating everyone on how the week is going. The delivery is currently scheduled for Saturday at 10 am at Gunpowder. I just found that out today. I am hoping to hear tomorrow night (Tuesday) that the boat is loaded up and on its way. That is what I know for now. We are coming down on a friends 06 48 sundancer, we are all staying on the boat Friday night and he is going to let my son stay aboard with his family while my wife and I take delivery. We are planning on going to Frog Mortar Creek, I have never been there or heard of it for that matter but looking forward to it. If anyone have any recommendations for Friday night, I am all ears.

Thanks again everyone.

That sounds great and the weather is looking great also. I would invite you all over to J pier on Friday evening, but not sure I will be down on Friday. I might make it down there Friday, might be Saturday with the kids sans the wife or the whole family may make it down... I am on call this weekend so it all depends... If you are there Friday wander on over to J pier and look for our boat if the canvas is down we are around. There is a good Italian restaurant across the street from the marina and an ice cream shop next door.

Another warning you have to go under the railroad bridge. There is just over 12.5-13' clearance under the bridge at high tide. I know the 320/340 crowd at the marina needs to keep a close watch as on high, high tides they can't make it under the bridge. My slipmate hung out on the outside for an hour one night coming back due to the tide.

I looked at the tides for Friday and Satuday and they look like this

Fri 8/7 9:19a High 1.9 ft.....Low 4:15p .57 ft
Sat 8/9 9:49 High 1.88 ft....Low 4:40p .54 ft

I'll let Bill fill in if that high tide will cause you issues on the delivery... Does the boat have radar? Just pay attention to that tide and lower your antennas!!!

Best of luck on the delivery!!!! I am sure you and your family will love the boat!!!

Frog Mortar is nice, we have day tripped it over there a few times. When you enter on the left is a short sandy strip which is on the appraoch to Martin State Airport. The planes stop at 10p, not sure when they start again on a Sunday I doubt they start early. You can raft up there no problem I would think.

Tom,

Thanks for the pointers, the bridge info is a huge help. Looks like the tides should be okay for clearance. The delivery starts at 10am and I am planning 4 hours which has me leaving about 2 hours or so prior to low tide.

I will look for you guys to say hello to everyone that has been so helpful. I am not sure where my boat will be but if you see us stop by

Brett,

Frog Motor Creek is down in Middle River, it is about a 40 minute cruise from Gunpowder Cove. Frog Motor has several marinas, and the Wild Duck restaurant, good place to eat with a long floating pier to dock up to.

I don’t think the 48 Dancer will clear the bridge to get into the cove where the marina is located, especially if there is radar on the arch. If you are planning to come into the marina on the 48, it may be a problem.

My house is directly behind the marina and I will be around all Friday afternoon, so if you need any help, or a car ride let me know and I will PM my cell phone number and you can call when you get in. I am over the marina every day, so I will let you know when the 340 arrives.

Bill

Friday is low tide is at 4:17 in the afternoon, which would be good to get in or out, maybe even with the 48; the clearance should be around 13 plus feet at that point.

Saturday morning when you are taking delivery at 10am the tide is high (1.9 at 9:45am). With that tide you are going to be practicing with the 340 in the cove because you are not going to clear the bridge with a 340, with or without radar. That is going to be around 11.5 feet of clearance. I have a 06 320, with radar mounted on a one inch wedge. My go/no go point on the tide is high 1.7.

All though if you are with Captain Ken, he may show you the “Drop and Go” technique….

I knew Bill would know the limits! I saw a new 330 using the drop and go technique two weekends ago, I saw the radar dome hanging down and wondered, until I realized the state of the tide...

Something to be said of the old, squat, design of the old 330's. I don't have to worry, when I took delivery of our 330 the tide was high and wind was blowing from the West which was the perfect bad combination. I know I am good until the water sits above the cement pillars on either side around ~ 11 ft....

That would have been Power Play, he takes his radar off when the clearence is tight. He can do that with the new 330 as is has the walk though windshield design. I can not get to mine very easy to be able to do that.

Still you have the TV antenna up there, I think he broke his once already trying to make on high tide.

In the future I want a Bridge Boat, so I'll just have to change marinas.

Here is the latest, the boat is on its way and I am hoping that it arrives sometime tomorrow afternoon. I guess it all depends on how far the driver decides to drive tonight and how long he decides to sleep!! I can't tell you how much I appreciate all of the help. Bill, I think I will take you up on your offer for a ride. I think my buddy made a reservation at the Maryland Marina down on Frog Mortar Creek. I am going to try and come down tomorrow late afternoon or early evening to greet the boat as she arrives.

Brett

Ok, I know where that Marina is. Right at the entrance of Frog Mortar from Middle River, this would be right off the runway of Martins Airport. It may be pretty wild down there if the National Guard boys start going out with their A-10’s Saturday morning. They really light them down off the end of that runway.
