Hi:
Searched the forum and couldn't find any info....

My question is on the 2000 SR380DA, can you remove the Teak Grate in the shower to clean underneath, remove hair etc etc

I am thinking "no" as I pulled on it and it is in there solid. I assume its another one of those "what were they thinking" things...

Any tips or insight is most appreciated!

Pulled the greats out of my boat. Maybe they are a bit swollen/James in there.

A teak shower grate on a Sea Ray sounds atypical. Just my observation of the significant lack of real wood in much of Sea Ray’s “woodwork”. That would also suggest an after market grate, no biggy, I made teak shower and deck grates for our 280 and just finished one for the current boat. But, in that case it would be an all bets are off situation.

I would carefully run the thinnest knife I could find around the perimeter. That will tell if there is any caulking and will clean up any residual shower schmeg.

Thank you all

“Schmeg”....I haven’t used that term in a while (only when I replaced duck bill valve in head system)!

UPDATE
So it was a little bit harder than I expected but after passing a rope thru the grate and using both hands, the grate popped out. In looking at the teak wood, I see that it was being "pinched" in a couple of spots as the person who built the radius at the factory didnt get it right.

I sanded the edge just a little to establish the correct radius and it goes in and out easily.

I am cleaning it up and applying a couple of coats of teak oil before I reinstall.

Thanks!

Heres a picture of the after.
