So I saw a post about "where have all the smart, intelligent, technical boat guys gone", and well, Im back.

So ask away anything you need to know about those floating things, and the things that propel it.

In the meantime, I need to get to the auto parts store for some oil and spark plugs.

Glad to see you’re out of the coma

Hey Bill, I'm back also!

Well, now between the two of us, the boating world should be adequately prepared for any emergency or technical input and general advice.

Bill! Where the heck have you been???? Thought maybe someone took a hockey stick and put you in a coma. Glad to see you are still well. Let me get in my annual preemptive Merry CHRISTmas!! ;)

No coma, Im all good, thanks! Just took a break for a while.

I see you havent changed a bit  of which I am glad to see :smt001

Happy winter solstice!

I had such a nice dream...

Wet?

Alright, you guys have dirty minds, I'm talking about wake boarding!

Now the real question. I have a propane heater I want to put in the bilge so I don't have to winterize. It has an electric spark ignition and a thermostat, so I have to plug it in. We don't have access to power so I will need to put in an inverter and 2 extra batteries in the bilge. So the question is do I really need to mount the outlet in an electrical box? And should I use a GFI?

If you really buy this, you are smoking crack. Of course us gas guys ain't that smart...

Lamp cord and a outlet strip would be fine IMO. Spare outlets are always handy...

Merry Christmas Bill!!!!

It depends on which propane you use...if you get ignition protected propane, then you likely will be alright...but no guarentees. I would have the family packed and loaded in the car with the engine running, with the car pointed down the street before you turn anything on.

Thanks to H20NUT, no one will read another post after #13

Tim....you should probably put a couple of outlets and at least one power strip with at least 6 outlets on it...one can never have too many outlets in the bilge....

(for those wondering ....not serious about this post)

For the new guys, Except for the huge, wet tits, 100% of this thread is bull****. Now, back to our regularly scheduled hilarity.

That should be the disclaimer when entering the Tiki Bar

I may be missing something, but if there is no access to power, shouldn't you put a portable generator down there in the bilge so that the inverter doesn't kill the batteries?
