Temperature gauge issue

I am looking for some assistance. I just purchased a 1999 215 Express Cruiser and the temperature gauge didn't work. I replaced the temp and alarm sensors with NAPA sensors, and the gauge started working and maxed out @ 220. I then replaced both sensors with OEM Mercruiser sensors, and the gauge still maxed @ 220. I replaced the gauge with OEM Sea Ray gauge and still @ 220. What can I replace next in order to get the gauge to read correctly? The manifold temp is 125 with a heat gun so I am comfortable that the engine is not operating at a high temp. Thanks for the assistance.

gauge and sender have to be a matched pair. Check your temp at the T-stat housing not the manifold.

If the tops of the risers are 125°, that seems hot to me.

mine are only slightly warm after a long cruise, and they are as cold as the sea water while idling, even with the engine water temp at 160°

Thanks for the information. I did measure temp at the thermostat housing, not the manifold. I was incorrect with my wording. The temp was 125 with a garden hose attached at idle in my driveway, not while driving in the water. how do I get a matched sender and gauge? The sender came from the dealer and the gauge came from another place due to the dealer not stocking that gauge any longer?

Can i interject? As usual i probably wrong on here. I been going thru a whole summer overheating issue and the gauge has nothing to do with it. The sender on the the side of the housing has to be matched to the thermostat.
Analog gauge. Dont know about the flat screen fancy stuff.
