Tesla inspired all electric boats are coming.

Range and charging is a killer for sure but I must be in the minority in that, with the exception of the blunt bow, I really like it's looks and functionality. I like the simple lines, open transom and modular furniture.

Even though it's a compromise it seems a diesel electric setup would be a practical, workable alternative. I'm not sure about the combined weight but you'd get the torque for the hole-shot and some silent cruising but then the flexibility to recharge or flat out cruise using an efficient diesel to recharge. I'm sure it's been considered and dissected to death so there must be some barriers they haven't been able to overcome.

And just like automobiles range is the problem and in the end it's still using fossil fuel to charge it. What they need to make is wind powered boats.
I think they call those.......hmmmmm.......sail boats?

actually the car ranges are damn good considering our model Y has a 300 mile range and a buddies model S has a 400 mile range my Grand Cherokee is in the middle somewhere so range is getting closer. We know we have to use fuel generated electric stations but at least it’s cutting our carbon footprint and lessening our oil dependence by some degree.
We’ve used the Tesla for the winter in Fla and came home and forgot I had to put gas in the Jeep.
we have more oil than any other country thanks to fracking so moot point there, however it would be nice to have the option of electric motors considering how expensive engines are getting
