The decline of fuel prices

Yeah, but you have wonderful socialized medicine! And if you make $52000 you're in the 40% tax bracket?? That cant be true, can it? But it's not so bad here in the states! We've got higher gas prices & higher taxes to look forward to, as well as a leader that will make our healthcare system a "right" (translation: the government will administer it, run it, destroy it and make the working people pay for it). They say that Europe leads the way!

I think at todays exchange rate its 40% after about $60000, what % would you pay in USA??

We in the UK seem to pay more than everyone else anyway, especially compared to main land Europe.
Im lost.

Sarcasm Bill. Pure unadulterated sarcasm to bemoan the upcoming administration and how their socialist views and tendencies will bring us more towards the very same systems that are failing in Europe and Canada.

I was surprised to see how high (and simplistic) the tax bracketing system is in the UK. Basically 2 brackets - 22% and 40%. I'm sure it's subject to deductions and some income is apparently exempt, but still. When Nobama get's in we'll probably catch up to you Brits pretty quick. Right now I think the tax bracket here in the USA for a $100K earner is about 33%.

Makes me think of that George Harrison song "The Taxman." How bitter was he - not sure if that was an ode to our IRS or England's equivalent agency.

It is the point of view/location that I got lost in.
