In my lifetime we’ve had our armed forces return home from a variety of conflicts around the world. When they came home from WWII they were welcomed home as heroes. They were treated to ticker tape parades, marching bands and were treated like the conquering heroes they were.
The next major conflict our armed forces came home from was Korea. Korean War soldiers returned home to a population that was largely disinterested in the war effort. They were not welcomed like the soldiers that came before them.
This, IMHO, was the beginning of the pendulum swing, and it is continuing.
When the Vietnam Vets returned they were hated, spit on, called names such as “Baby Killers” and other vile names. The pendulum of lack of respect for our troops had swung further.
In the recent wars in the desert the pendulum has continued to swing and returning troops were despised. Groups organized protests to show their hatred for everything associated with the military.
Now it appears this hatred has spread to the police. Anti-police riots have taken place in cities across the country, some in retaliation for killings of black people by white cops. The pendulum has continued to swing and this hatred now includes police as well as the military.
Yesterday, in NYC an anti-police riot took place to protest police enforcing the laws against people jumping the turnstiles instead of paying fares. Rioters ran into the subway, jumped the turnstiles instead of paying the tolls and were physically attacking the police. Here’s a link to an article about this recent riot.

So where will this pendulum swing end? Will the ANTIFA and similar groups continue their anti-government protests and riots? Most likely. Along the I-5 corridor that runs N-S from Vancouver, BC through Seattle and down into Portland and other towns in Oregon, these riots have turned violent.
How can we control this swinging pendulum and where will it end?
